Erwachsen Werden

When I was younger and even now I loved coming-of-age novels. They provided me an escape, not that my reality was bad in fact I loved it most of the time. Authors like John Green and books like " Words on The Bathroom Wall" stood amongst my favorites with me finding myself relating to the main character. I sought out these books so much that my local librarian ( who was very awesome ) would have suggestions for me when I visited with titles that might pique my interest. During the last weeks of August 2019, I found the book " Normal People " and admittedly I only picked out of the line-up only because of its cover ( bite me idiom). This book more than any other has had a very big effect in terms of the way that I see/treat college.  College now was not only a place where I'd get my degree and graduate rather it was a place to make friends, get my heart broken ( hopefully we skip that part ), and overall leave with some pretty sweet memories. I think I've always been attracted to the types of books I listed ( quite frankly I don't know how to describe them ) because as a young first-generation immigrant there were many experiences which I would have no opportunity to experience and the pages were a great substitution. However, as I have gotten older I am realizing that it may be time to retire the library card and begin my own story.
